The most popular tourist attraction of India is Taj Mahal, also known as one of the Seven Wonders of the World. It’s really difficult to describe the beauty of Taj Mahal in just few words. It’s not only famous for love story behind it, but also for its architecture. People come to see it from all over the world.



 

                                                              It is a wonderful and famous monument, which is located in the city of Northern India named Agra. It was built in the memory of the beautiful Mumtaz Mahal who won the heart of the Mughal Emperor Shahjahan. She was married to Shahjahan at 21. In 1631, Mumtaz Mahal died when she was just 39 years old. Shahjahan’s life became hard and full of sorrows without his beloved wife, there was no music and celebration in his royal court. Then Shahjahan decided to build a memorial for his beloved that could not forget after him.

                                                             20,000 workers laboured for 17 years to build this huge monument. But, in 1658 Aurangzeb (Son of Shahjahan) deposed Shahjahan and imprisoned in Agra Fort. He spent his last years in the Mussalman Burj looking downstream at the Taj where his beloved Mumtaz Mahal lay. Sixteen years later he, too, was laid to rest beside her.

                                                              In short, it can be said that one can find true touch of ancient India in this beautiful monument called Taj Mahal.
